Auxiliary Machinery

This course is a self-paced online format based on the standard 120 hour in person course and the appropriate modules in IMO Model Course 7.04, Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch. 

•            A mariner who successfully completes the course will satisfy the Auxiliary Machinery training requirements of 46 CFR 11.329(a)(4)(vi) for STCW endorsements as OICEW on vessels on vessels powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW /1,000 HP propulsion power or more.

Course Requirements
A smart phone, tablet or computer is required to work through the course.

The following is the minimum computer requirements for the final proctor exams:

• Desktop or laptop computer (Mac, Windows, or Chromebook)
• Windows 7 or newer / macOS 10.10 or newer
• Macs require a minimum of macOS 10.10.
• Minimum internet speed: 1 Mbps download & upload
• Google Chrome (version 74 or higher)
• Web camera and microphone (required for final exam)

Testing Requirements:

• Final Exam: 50 multiple-choice questions
• Passing Score: 70%
• Attempts Allowed: 3
• Exam Format: AI-proctored online via SmarterServices
